This is a list of the safest 2009 cars. All cars on the list earned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s highest crash-test ratings of five stars (though the SUVs earned only four stars for rollover resistance). The highest rating for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is "good" and these cars also earned triple "good" ratings in front-, side- and rear-impact testing. These are the top fifteen:
